This cherished carousel was created in 1926 for the Philadelphia sesquicentennial by master carousel creator Marcus Illions. It was purchased in 1934 and has remained at the park ever since. The carousel, valued at $1.5 million in 1990 by carousel artisans and historians, is a four-to-a-row, 64-horse carousel which includes four chariots. Every child's favorite.
